Gardener's Supply specifies six-inch Earth Staples made from 11-gauge galvanized steel wire. The fifteen-piece set is intended to help hold row covers, shade netting, or plastic mulch at ground level. These are useful small parts for a cover system, but they do not determine whether the cloth is wide enough, whether the crop needs hoops, or whether the perimeter is fully closed. Plan anchor spacing around the actual material and soil conditions instead of assuming fifteen pins will secure any bed in any wind. Hard, stony ground can make insertion difficult, while very loose soil may provide limited grip. Push and remove them carefully so the ends do not create a hidden hazard. Count them when taking down a seasonal cover and store them together; a missing metal pin is easier to overlook than a missing hoop or sheet.
